Case Study: Field Offshore Operating Company reduces environmental impact from well testing with SLB's integrated fluid treatment and pumping solution

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Field Offshore Operating Company Case Study

Fit-for-basin well testing decreases total gas and condensate volumes flared and ensures no overboarding of treated fluid

SLB worked with Field Offshore Operating Company, an operator offshore New Zealand, to reduce the environmental impact of well testing while still meeting well test and intervention objectives. The customer needed a flexible solution to avoid flaring and overboarding treated fluid, comply with New Zealand’s strict environmental standards, and handle changing well conditions during the campaign.

SLB designed an integrated well test package that combined a high-pressure separator, standard separator, fluid treatment facility, and a REDA HPS horizontal multistage surface pumping system to treat contaminated condensate, neutralize acid, and reinject fluids into the production pipeline. The solution was delivered on schedule, eliminated condensate flaring, greatly reduced gas flaring, prevented overboarding of treated fluid, and helped the operator generate revenue from recovered products while setting a benchmark for more environmentally sound well test operations in New Zealand.
