First Deployment of Multizonal Intelligent Completion More Than Doubles Production from Shushufindi Well

SLB worked with Shushufindi-Aguarico Oil Field Company to improve oil production in a mature Ecuadorian brownfield while meeting regulatory requirements for commingled production. The customer needed better zonal monitoring and control, easier completion installation and interventions, and a way to produce from multiple stacked reservoirs more efficiently.

SLB designed and implemented an integrated multizonal intelligent completion solution using modular intelligent well completion equipment, a REDA Maximus ESP system, and real-time data transmission and analysis. The first deployment increased oil production by 235%, added more than 500 bbl/d, reduced intervention time by 17 days, and cut intervention costs by more than USD 1 million, while proving the feasibility of commingled production from multiple zones.
