Case Study: Field Offshore Operating Company obtains low-contamination pressure and fluid samples with SLB’s Saturn radial probe

A SLB Case Study

Field Offshore Operating Company - Customer Case Study

SLB worked with Field Offshore Operating Company, an offshore operator drilling its first exploration well into a subsalt carbonate reservoir in the Caspian Sea. The company needed valid pressure data and fluid samples from an overpressured, tight, laminated 6-in section, but had limited drilling time and faced sticking risk from long station times.

SLB recommended the 5-in Saturn 3D radial probe with the InSitu Fluid Analyzer system in the MDT tester string. The setup successfully collected two low-contamination oil samples and measured formation pressure at 0.05-mD/cP mobility in just 4.5 hours on station, operating within a differential pressure range of 5,500 to 6,500 psi and helping the operator continue appraisal with confidence.
