ENVIROUNIT System Saves Total E&P USD 6 Million in Slop Water Processing Offshore Republic of Congo

Total E&P Angola needed a cost-effective way to process slop water from a 45-well deepwater development offshore the Republic of Congo. With rigs located about 100 km from the nearest supply base, limited local treatment options, and costly transport and disposal requirements, the company looked for a solution from SLB using the ENVIROUNIT offshore slop water treatment system.

SLB deployed the ENVIROUNIT system to recover drilling fluids, treat water for discharge, and reduce waste shipments to shore. After 14 months, Total saved USD 6 million while processing 16,500 m3 of slop water, reducing the waste stream by 97% and recovering about 315 m3 of synthetic-base drilling fluid for reuse. The project also cut onshore disposal to 530 m3 and is projected to save about USD 30 million over the life of the campaign.
