ENVIROUNIT System Helps Save USD 9.8 Million on 16-Well Operation Offshore Mozambique and Tanzania

SLB worked with a leading 16-well operation company offshore Mozambique and Tanzania to meet stringent slop water discharge regulations requiring oil content of no more than 15 ppm. The challenge was to treat highly contaminated slop water efficiently while reducing the need to ship waste to shore and lowering overall HSE and disposal costs.

SLB implemented the ENVIROUNIT offshore slop water treatment system to support waste minimization, fluid reuse, and cost savings. The system treated 7,995 m3 of slop water, reducing average contamination from more than 5,000 ppm to around 10 ppm and achieving a treated-water average of 9.99 ppm, with all water meeting the 15-ppm requirement; the project saved USD 9,874,249 over the 16-well operation.
