Preview of the Leading Newfoundland Operating Company Case Study

ENVIROUNIT Offshore Water Treatment System Saves More Than USD 1 Million in First 5 Months of Operation

SLB worked with a leading Newfoundland operating company facing high costs and HSE risks from treating offshore slop water and rig waste in a remote, harsh environment offshore Newfoundland, Canada. The operator needed to process deck drainage, slop water, and waste fluids offshore while meeting strict discharge standards before transfer to shore.

SLB implemented the ENVIROUNIT offshore water treatment system to treat and recycle drilling and completion fluids on the West Aquarius rig, reducing the need for ship-to-shore disposal. In the first 5 months, the system delivered USD 1,191,408 in savings versus conventional disposal, cut cumulative processing costs to USD 676,585 from USD 1,867,993, reduced logistics and cleaning activities, and helped the operator comply with environmental regulations while lowering HSE risks.
