Engineered Perforating System Boosts Productivity Across 6,200 ft in Offshore HPHT Gas Condensate Wells

North Sea Gas Operating Company was looking to improve well deliverability in offshore HPHT gas condensate wells in the North Sea, where drilling-induced formation damage and strict pressure-barrier requirements made it difficult to deploy and retrieve long gun assemblies safely on coiled tubing. SLB was brought in to help address the challenge with an engineered perforating approach using HPHT perforating guns and PowerJet Nova shaped charges.

SLB customized an HPHT perforating system with PowerJet Nova extradeep-penetrating charges and SPAN Rock analysis to create dynamic underbalance, improve cleanup, and bypass formation damage while maintaining HSE compliance. The solution was run across five wells totaling 6,217 ft of perforating interval, including a longest 1,649-ft deployment, and it delivered cleaner perforations, reduced skin, and a higher productivity index than expected.
