Engineered ESP System and Lift IQ Service Extend Run Life 300% in Abrasive Well for Salym Petroleum

SLB worked with Salym Petroleum in Western Siberia, where a high-flow-rate, high-water-cut well with abrasives and scaling was causing high power costs, frequent ESP failures, and short run life. The customer’s third-party conventional ESPs were failing after less than 50 days because of sand abrasion, plugging, and heat damage.

SLB installed a REDA ESP system with REDA Continuum unconventional extended-life stages and an RC4000 high-efficiency pump, then monitored and optimized performance with Lift IQ service. The new setup cut power consumption by more than 20%, increased production by 12% from 4,180 to 4,680 bbl/d, and extended run life to more than 200 days, more than tripling prior performance.
