A SLB Case Study
Energean Oil & Gas PLC needed to land and place a 7-in liner inside the caprock at the Prinos North Field without penetrating the reservoir, despite high seismic uncertainty, limited lateral extent, formation thickness changes, faulting, and low resistivity contrast. The company also needed to expose at least 350 m of the reservoir in the 6-in openhole section and avoid sidetracking. SLB supported the operation with the PeriScope HD multilayer bed boundary detection service and geoVISION imaging-while-drilling service.
SLB used PeriScope HD and geoVISION to map the reservoir, define structural dip, and provide early warning of lithological changes, enabling precise geosteering through the complex interval. Energean successfully landed the well without sidetracking, achieved a net-to-gross ratio of 100%, and drilled the horizontal section to 410 m MD within the pay zone, exceeding the 350 m target. The result improved productivity, exposed attic oil, and avoided additional completion cost.
