Dragon Oil Turkmenistan restores offshore well production to 940 bbl/d with SLB
Dragon Oil Turkmenistan Ltd faced a challenge when an offshore well in the Caspian Sea experienced a sudden water breakthrough, causing water cut to rise to 100% and forcing the well to be shut-in. The complex completion of the well made a traditional intervention costly. SLB was selected to implement a rigless chemical water shutoff solution using its OrganoSEAL R gel system and AllSeal water and gas conformance service.
SLB implemented a rigless solution that involved bullheading a tailored gel formulation into the matrix to create a rigid seal. This approach eliminated the need for a workover rig, resulting in minimal operation time and a small footprint. The solution successfully revived the well, restoring oil production to approximately 940 bbl/d and reducing water cut close to its initial rate. The well sustained this performance for over 14 months, demonstrating the effectiveness of SLB's intervention.
