DISCover Technique Records Data Below Normal Seismic Bandwidth

SLB worked with a large-scale event company on a 33 x 7-km marine seismic survey off the Northwest Shelf of Australia. The company needed to image a poorly defined large-scale event and overcome the lack of low frequencies in conventional shallow array data.

SLB deployed the DISCover broadband deep interpolated streamer coverage seismic technique, combining shallow and deep streamer arrays to improve low-frequency recording without sacrificing high-frequency content. The result was clearer deep imaging, better geological continuity, and improved inversion quality, with the data supporting a usable seismic frequency range from 3 Hz to 80 Hz and revealing large-scale features that were not visible on conventional data.
