SLB worked with a large operating company facing major operational disruption from COVID-19 travel bans, quarantine rules, and supply chain interruptions. The company needed to keep directional drilling operations running across diverse rigs and locations while reducing reliance on onsite crews and traveling engineers.

SLB deployed its Performance Live service, which shifted analytical work to remote operations centers and reduced the need for personnel at the wellsite. The result was a 50% reduction in wellsite footprint on one Thailand operator’s rigs, a 15% improvement in rate of penetration, and support for more than 10,000 shifts in a single month while avoiding travel for over 600 people. By July 2020, SLB had expanded the service to nearly 65% of global operations.
