A SLB Case Study
ERIELL Group needed to maximize drilling performance and reduce risk while drilling the vertical, build, and horizontal sections of a Samburgskoe field development well in north central Russia. SLB worked with its engineering teams to plan application-specific bottomhole assemblies and use the IDEAS integrated design platform, along with drilling and measurement technologies, to optimize each section.
SLB designed one BHA per hole section using PDC bits, rotary steerable and motor systems, MWD/LWD tools, and M-I SWACO drilling fluids, enabling the well to be drilled shoe to shoe without extra runs. The result was good hole quality, average on-bottom ROP of 26.8 m/h, and 15 days saved on well construction time, finishing 15 days ahead of schedule and setting a regional record for ERIELL Group.
