Core Points Optimized Using Mineralogy and Total Organic Carbon from Litho Scanner Service

SLB worked with Northern Cross Yukon to help guide core point selection from three wells in a complex unconventional reservoir in the Canadian Arctic. The team needed to identify the most representative sampling locations across challenging lithology to support a comprehensive reservoir evaluation, using SLB’s Litho Scanner service and related analysis workflows.

SLB used Litho Scanner high-definition spectroscopy to quantify mineralogy and total organic carbon, and integrated those results with TerraTek HRA rock analysis in Techlog software to build a detailed data montage for decision-making. This enabled precise sidewall core placement, reduced uncertainty in complex formations, and supported real-time operational decisions with TOC estimation turnaround in less than 24 hours, confirmed against actual rock-calculated TOCs.
