Offshore South America Company needed to perform a comprehensive reservoir test in an open-perforation ultradeepwater presalt well offshore South America while minimizing rig time, costs, and operational risk. SLB proposed the Quartet downhole reservoir testing system for the challenging well, which had previously perforated intervals and complex high-pressure, high-depth conditions.

SLB used the Quartet system with an open-perforation adapter to streamline the test in a single trip, combining isolation, valve control, pressure gauging, and fluid sampling in one test string. The system remained in the hole for 20 days and met all test objectives, while saving an estimated 10 rig hours during rig-up and rig-down, worth about USD 170,000, without compromising service quality.
