Compact Wellheads Minimize Environmental Impact and Save USD 500,000 per Well

SLB worked with a leading independent operating company in Kenya that needed to explore oil in the environmentally sensitive Amboseli National Park while minimizing footprint, HSE risk, and rig time. The customer planned dozens of wells for exploration and hundreds more for development, making efficient, low-impact operations essential.

SLB used the SSMC standard snap-ring modular compact wellhead system to speed rig-up, reduce wellhead penetrations, and lower environmental exposure. The compact split system helped save about two days and USD 500,000 per well, while reducing rig time by more than 50% and allowing the wellheads to operate below ground with minimal disruption to nearby wildlife.
