Combined Technologies Cut Stimulation Time by 50%

SLB worked with Saudi Arabia Operating Company, which needed to perform matrix stimulation treatments in multilateral power water injector wells while monitoring the operation in real time. The customer’s challenge was that these treatments had historically been limited to 2 bbl/min, making long stimulation jobs slow and difficult to monitor downhole.

SLB deployed the Discovery MLT multilateral reentry system, the ACTive PTC live CT pressure, temperature, and casing collar locator tool, and a rugged fiber-optic carrier to enable higher pumping rates while maintaining real-time measurements. The solution achieved average pump rates of 4.0 to 4.5 bbl/min, cut pumping time by more than 50% per lateral, improved stimulation efficiency, and provided real-time gamma ray depth correlation to verify access to each lateral.
