Check-Valve ICDs Save 20 Hours of Rig Time and Approximately USD 1 Million, Offshore Canada

Offshore Canada Operating Company needed to maximize efficiency while setting openhole hydraulic packers for zonal isolation in a stand-alone screen completion. SLB proposed using ResFlow CV check-valve ICDs in place of standard ICDs to support the completion design.

SLB’s ResFlow CV check-valve ICDs were installed in the screen joints and successfully held 34-MPa tubing pressure, allowing the packers to be set without a washpipe run. The change saved 20 hours of rig time and about USD 1 million, and the operator later used the same SLB solution again in another well in the field.
