Case Study: an independent operating company eliminates sustained casing pressure with SLB's CemPRIME Scrub spacer and CemFIT Heal cement system

A SLB Case Study

Preview of the Independent Operating Company Case Study

CemPRIME Scrub spacer and CemFIT Heal system improve cement bonds to prevent gas migration behind the production casing, Texas and Oklahoma

SLB worked with an independent operating company drilling wells in Texas and Oklahoma that was struggling with sustained casing pressure in tight-hole Delaware and Anadarko Basin wells. The operator needed a way to eliminate gas flaring, pressure releases, and repeated squeeze cementing costs after conventional mud-cleaning and cement changes failed to fully solve the problem.

SLB deployed CemPRIME Scrub spacer to improve mud removal and CemFIT Heal self-healing cement as a cap or lead slurry, using only a small volume where needed to preserve economics. This combination eliminated sustained casing pressure in both fields, improved cement isolation behind the production casing, and saved the operator more than USD 50,000 per well by avoiding remedial cementing.
