CEMENTICS Software Saves More Than 15 Hours Per Well in Operational Time During Plug Placement

SLB worked with a leading international operator company on a deepwater development project in Southeast Asia, where the team faced complex cementing challenges in remote wells with a narrow pressure window, lost circulation risk, and demanding plug placement conditions. The operator needed accurate planning for primary cementing and cement plug placement while maintaining well integrity and meeting regulatory requirements.

SLB used CEMENTICS zonal isolation software and the WELLCLEAN III mud displacement simulator to model pressures, fluid displacement, and contamination risks during cementing and plug placement. This enabled accurate cement design and placement in both openhole and cased hole sections, improved zonal isolation, and saved the operator more than 15 hours of rig time per well while keeping operations on schedule.
