A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with a leading Permian Basin production company operating in the Wolfcamp Shale, where the main challenge was improving well production across a thick 800-to-1,200-foot pay zone. The company needed better vertical fracture conductivity and proppant placement while using low-viscosity fluids such as slickwater and linear gel.
SLB addressed the challenge by pumping its composite fracturing fluid as part of a BroadBand services treatment, using degradable fibers to keep proppant suspended and improve vertical placement. In two treated wells, the result was an average 62% increase in six-month cumulative production, or barrels of oil equivalent, compared with four offset wells completed with conventional slickwater and linear gel.
