BroadBand Sequence Service Stimulates Wells with 50% Less Diverter Material

SLB worked with a leading operating company in the Bakken Shale that needed to reduce stimulation time and diverter volumes without hurting productivity. The operator’s openhole, swell-packer completions and wide fractures made traditional diverter pills less effective, with long waits to confirm diversion and high material usage.

SLB implemented its BroadBand Sequence fracturing service using larger-particle diversion pills mixed with fibers and smaller particles, delivered through a high-pressure injector during pumping. The new approach cut diverter volumes by at least 50%, improved diversion pressure per pound by 43%, and reduced the time to reach 1,500 psi by as much as 70%, while simplifying operations and reducing equipment on location.
