BP Oman Achieves Significant Reduction in CO2 Emissions for the Khazzan Project

BP Oman needed a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from well cleanup operations in the Khazzan Field in Oman, where conventional post-fracturing cleanup relied on flaring gas and condensate. Schlumberger supported the effort with a green completions well cleanup and testing solution tailored for the basin, using its RapidResponse product development process.

Schlumberger designed and installed an integrated separation, filtration, and acoustic monitoring system with large-bore temporary pipelines, manifolds, and a digitally enabled high-capacity four-phase horizontal separator to route hydrocarbons to the production facility instead of flaring them. In 2019, the solution was used on 10 wells and delivered more than 80,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions reduction, equal to taking nearly 18,000 cars off the road for a year.
