Biodegradable Gel Pig Operation Boosts Production 58%

SLB worked with a leading gas production company in Texas that was struggling to restore production in a small, variable-ID natural gas flowline. Fluid loading in low spots was creating back pressure and restricting gas output, while the line’s small diameter, bends, and low-pressure rating made conventional mechanical pigging impractical.

SLB implemented a biodegradable ConcentraGel gel pig cleaning operation to sweep produced fluids out of the pipeline. The gel removed 13 bbl of water and 3 bbl of condensate, reduced flowline pressure from 40 psi to 34 psi, and increased daily production from 190 Mcf/d to 300 Mcf/d, a 58% gain.
