BaSOL 2000 HP Scale Dissolver Increases Oil Production 733%

SLB worked with an onshore oil production company in southern Mexico that was dealing with severe barium sulfate and strontium sulfate scale buildup in producing wells. The scaling was restricting flow, driving production down to uneconomic levels, and causing the operator to consider shutting in wells after other chemical treatments had failed.

SLB analyzed the scale, confirmed the blockage with production logging, and used BaSOL 2000 HP scale dissolver in staged coiled-tubing batches with controlled contact time and displacement to keep fresh chemical moving through the wellbore. The treatment restored productivity and boosted oil output from 81 bbl/d to 675 bbl/d, a 733% increase, while reducing water cut and avoiding an unnecessary well shut-in.
