AquaWatcher Surface Sensor Replaces Manual Sampling with Continuous Salinity for 3-Month Flowback

SLB worked with Midland Basin Based Operating Company, an operator conducting a long-term flowback test, to reduce personnel exposure to well effluents during manual water sampling used to measure salinity. The company needed a safer, more reliable way to track changing salinity as conditions evolved during the test, while maintaining accurate flow rate measurements with PhaseTester portable multiphase well testing equipment.

SLB installed the AquaWater Surface water salinity sensor in series with the PhaseTester system to continuously measure water conductivity and convert it to salinity as the NaCl equivalent. This automated inline approach eliminated manual sampling visits to the remote wellsite, improved the accuracy of flow rate measurements through continuous high-accuracy salinity updates, and reduced operating costs over the 3-month test.
