AllFRAC Alternate Path Screens Ensure 100% Gravel Packing in Highly Permeable Zones Offshore Angola

SLB worked with Angola Operating Company on a sand-control challenge in a highly permeable offshore Angola reservoir where long producing intervals and cased-hole, frac-packed wells were prone to sand production, bridging, and scale deposition. The customer needed long-term completion reliability and complete gravel placement around the screen-to-casing annulus, so SLB proposed its AllFRAC Alternate Path frac-pack sand screens along with a fit-for-purpose frac-pack fluid.

SLB used AllFRAC Alternate Path screens with shunt-tube technology and a customized scale-inhibitor fluid to keep slurry moving past any bridge and fully pack the annulus. In the two wells completed, the operator achieved 100% gravel placement, recorded excellent fracture parameters, and saw better-than-expected production; the wells then produced trouble free for nearly six months, encouraging Angola Operating Company to keep using the SLB solution in future frac-pack operations.
