Allegro CD service optimizes bit design to increase ROP 135% Timano-Pechora Basin

SLB worked with LLC RN-Severnaya Neft in Russia to address wellbore instability and stuck pipe risks during directional drilling in the Labaganskoe Field. The company was struggling with long formation exposure, high nonproductive time, and casing that could not always reach total depth using conventional drilling methods.

Using the Allegro CD directional casing-while-drilling service, SLB customized bit and BHA designs for the formation and drilled the first well to 1,056 m TD in one run, then further optimized the next wells for even better performance. ROP increased by 110% in the second well and 135% in the third well, all three wells reached TD without stuck pipe, wiper and reaming trips were eliminated, and well construction time was reduced by 3 days.
