ADCO Reduces Invisible Lost Time and Saves 2 Days Versus AFE with OptiWell Service, UAE

SLB worked with Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations Ltd. (ADCO) on an onshore pilot well in the UAE to address hole cleaning, stuck pipe risk, and invisible lost time while drilling multiple sections shoe to shoe and improving rate of penetration. The challenging well profile, especially the 12 1/4-in section, required better connection practices and tighter operational control.

SLB implemented the OptiWell well construction performance service together with SENSU rig operations surveillance and CLEAR hole cleaning services to improve real-time decision making, monitor rig activity, and measure cuttings recovery. The well was completed in 36 days, 2 days ahead of AFE, with zero NPT and no stuck pipe incidents; connection time was reduced by up to 35%, on-bottom ROP increased by as much as 25%, and the project delivered estimated savings of USD 564,600 for ADCO.
