A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Kuwait Oil Company, which needed to identify and clean specific plugged inflow control devices (ICDs) in two extended-reach horizontal wells with dozens of possible treatment zones in each well. The buildup of fines had reduced production in the Minagish and Sabriyah fields, and the company needed a way to restore output with minimal downtime.
SLB used ACTive DTS Inversion distributed temperature measurement analysis to pinpoint the problem zones, then carried out a single ACTive Straddle CT real-time multiset inflatable packer cleanout to selectively treat the plugged ICDs while monitoring downhole pressure in real time. The approach eliminated the need for a workover rig, saved more than a week of intervention time, increased production by 150% in Well A and 171% in Well B, and helped produce 50,000 bbl of oil.
