ACTive Services and Neyrfor TTT Turbodrill Increase ROP by 200% During CT Drilling Operation
Wintershall Dea AG needed to improve the efficiency of coiled tubing drilling in a sour fractured carbonate reservoir while preserving the formation and comparing performance against a positive displacement motor (PDM). SLB addressed this challenge with its ACTive live downhole coiled tubing services and Neyrfor TTT thru-tubing turbodrill, along with a Kinetic diamond-impregnated bit.
SLB combined ACTive PTC and TC live CT tools with the Neyrfor TTT turbodrill and Kinetic bit in the drilling bottomhole assembly, enabling real-time downhole monitoring and optimized drilling performance. The result was a tripling of average rate of penetration versus conventional PDM drilling, which reduced drilling time and costs, improved drilling versatility, and enhanced reservoir knowledge after drilling.
