ACTive Q Service Key to Improving Injection Rate of Dual-Lateral Power Injector by 600%

SLB worked with Middle East Drilled Operating Company, a Middle East operator facing declining injection rates in a dual-lateral water injector well. The well’s injectivity had fallen from 5,000 bbl/d to 2,000 bbl/d, and the operator needed to accurately access each lateral, identify pre- and poststimulation injection profiles, and improve overall injection performance.

SLB used the Discovery MLT multilateral reentry system together with ACTive GR and ACTive Q real-time CT flow measurement services to locate and verify each lateral, profile flow distribution, and guide acid placement more effectively. By improving treatment coverage and balancing injection between the laterals, SLB helped raise the well’s injectivity to 14,000 bbl/d, a 600% increase over the prestimulation rate and well above the 5,000 bbl/d target.
