ACTive PS Service Identifies Water and HydrocarbonBearing Zones During Production Logging

Southern Mexico Based Operating Company needed to log a horizontal well that had been historically inaccessible with wireline or wired coiled tubing in order to reduce water production and increase oil output. SLB used its ACTive PS live CT production logging service with the RSTPro reservoir saturation tool to reach the well and collect real-time data.

Using SLB’s ACTive PS service and RSTPro tool, the operator identified hydrocarbons in the upper section of the well and used that information to guide cementing and perforating interventions. The result was a jump in oil production from 126 bbl/d to 500 bbl/d and a reduction in water production from 742 bbl/d at 85.5% water cut to 18 bbl/d at 0.5% water cut.
