A SLB Case Study
SLB worked with Field Offshore Operating Company, which needed to perforate long reservoir intervals offshore from a tension-leg platform in the Republic of Congo while dealing with limited deck space, simultaneous drilling and production, and the need to avoid killing the well. The project also had to support deepwater well interventions and long perforating runs under tight well control constraints.
SLB designed and deployed a motion-compensated intervention tower with ACTive CT services, CIRP equipment, and ACTive Perf real-time perforating tools to run and retrieve long gun strings under pressure. The system enabled accurate depth correlation and live-well perforation, including 78 m of reservoir section perforated under live conditions, with no HSE or well control incidents, and saved more than 15 days of rig time by allowing rigless intervention alongside drilling operations.
