ABRASIJET Service Helps Operator Triple Production and Maintain Rate for More Than One Year

SLB worked with Middle East Producing Company, an operator seeking to boost production from large openhole horizontal wells with tight formation and reservoir heterogeneity. The challenge was to place acid accurately during matrix stimulation in order to improve coverage across the target intervals and overcome the limitations of conventional treatments.

SLB used ABRASIJET hydraulic pipe-cutting and perforating service combined with ACTive DTS Inversion distributed temperature analysis to identify damaged and thief zones, cut slots through the formation, and place viscoelastic diverting acid more effectively. The treatment raised production from 200 bbl/d to 700 bbl/d, a gain of 500 bbl/d, and the improved rate was maintained for more than one year.
