Real-time gamification and personalization for fans at Wrigley Field

The Chicago Cubs wanted to make Premier Batting Practice at Wrigley Field more engaging and personal for fans, beyond a one-time leaderboard moment. With help from Slalom and Snowflake, the team looked for a way to turn player performance data into a live, interactive experience.

Slalom implemented real-time data ingestion with Snowpipe into Snowflake and displayed live results through a Microsoft Power BI dashboard on the stadium video boards. The solution updated rankings instantly and tracked running totals against historic Cubs stats, driving more competition and repeat participation; fans were “floored” to see their names in Wrigley Field, and engagement increased as attendees kept trying to beat the stats.
