A Slalom Case Study

Preview of the Health Insurance Company Case Study

Making buying health insurance as easy as buying Shoes

A health insurance company faced the challenge of adapting to the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which required a major shift from selling to corporations to selling directly to individuals. To prepare for an influx of over 2 million new members, they partnered with Slalom to overhaul the consumer experience and simplify the complex process of selecting an insurance plan.

Slalom implemented a new retail shopping cart (RSC) solution, designed to make shopping for insurance as easy as online retail. This mobile-friendly platform featured tools like a "Help Me Choose" wizard and a subsidy estimator, and was integrated with the Federal Exchange. The solution prepared the insurer for healthcare reform, projecting a 25% jump in direct sales and providing a foundation for future growth.
