A Slalom Case Study
Larkin Street Youth Services, a San Francisco non-profit dedicated to ending youth homelessness, sought to build a greater sense of community and shared purpose among its nearly 200 staff members working across distributed sites. Their challenge was that existing technology, like a basic folder structure, didn't facilitate the collaboration, knowledge sharing, and connection needed to empower their team and reduce isolation, especially for staff working off-hours.
Slalom addressed this through its pro-bono Philanthropy Fellows program, designing and deploying an employee portal using SharePoint and Office 365. The solution served as a one-stop shop for communication, vital workflows like scheduling, and knowledge sharing, making staff feel connected to the same cause. The portal helped amplify conversations across the entire organization, bridge awareness gaps for key support programs, and automate previously manual processes, ultimately getting all staff on the same page regarding their mission outcomes.
