Case Study: City of Los Angeles achieves measurable gender equity progress with Slalom

A Slalom Case Study

Preview of the City of Los Angeles Case Study

Empowering Girls and Women With Gender Equity

The City of Los Angeles wanted to accelerate gender equity across its government, but its departments’ early plans were mostly narrative and hard to measure. With help from **Slalom** and tools like **Tableau Prep** and **Tableau Desktop**, the city worked with all 38 departments to turn the Mayor’s gender equity goals into clearer, data-driven action plans.

**Slalom** helped standardize reporting, clean up manual Excel-based data, and build interactive dashboards so departments could track progress more consistently. The result was measurable citywide impact: domestic violence services expanded from 10 to all 21 police areas, $4.5 million more was invested in shelters, rape kits were processed within 90 days, female representation in leadership roles increased, and women’s participation in Parks and Rec programming rose to 45% from 25%.
