A Slalom Case Study
United Way of King County, a non-profit focused on fighting poverty and meeting basic needs, faced the challenge of breaking away from a reactive cycle within its Grantee Contract Management function. With a limited pool of funds, the organization sought to identify long-term, proactive improvements to more efficiently serve its community. They engaged Slalom for pro bono consulting services to help evolve their approach.
Slalom implemented a strategic business-architecture approach to redefine the organization's processes. A consultant documented the "as-is" state, defined core capabilities, and identified key pain points. The solution delivered a multi-year roadmap for operational and IT improvements, along with easy-to-understand illustrations of current and future states. This provided United Way of King County with a clear strategic vision and the internal tools to continue identifying and resolving problems at their source.
