A Slalom Case Study
Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP) faced a challenge in analyzing its vast, disparate healthcare data. The organization's manual and time-consuming processes made it difficult to answer complex, large-scale public health questions. CRISP partnered with Slalom to modernize its analytics capabilities and move beyond its legacy systems.
Slalom implemented an Azure Data Lake using its Azure Data Platform Accelerator, which leverages Databricks. This solution allowed CRISP to quickly automate data aggregation and analysis. The results were transformative: Slalom helped CRISP create its 'CRISP Insights' platform, which processes over 400 billion records to deliver near real-time reporting. This was critical for Maryland's COVID-19 response, enabling contact tracing, vaccine rollout tracking, and equitable resource allocation. The platform also drastically reduced processing times for complex tasks, from 190 days to just three days, allowing CRISP to support public health initiatives with unprecedented speed and scale.
