Borderfree - Customer Case Study

Borderfree, an ecommerce company, sought to reduce the high costs and complexity of international online shopping for consumers. Their challenge was to expand from a B2B model into the B2C market by creating a solution that would consolidate shipments from multiple US retailers, thereby lowering international shipping fees and tariffs for overseas customers. To address this, they partnered with the vendor Slalom.

Slalom architected and developed a global turnkey solution utilizing a combination of platforms including Salesforce, Heroku, and Zuora. This new system provided a parcel-forwarding service and a customer portal, enabling cost calculation and package consolidation. As a result, Borderfree successfully launched its B2C business within seven months, now serving customers in over 100 countries and processing transactions in more than 60 currencies, while reducing cart abandonment and increasing consumer traffic for its retail partners.
