ETNECA, a leading service provider of maritime satellite communications in Thailand, was tasked by the Thai government with implementing a Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) to combat illegal fishing and ensure regulatory compliance. The challenge was to provide a centralized, easy-to-use system that could monitor vessel locations, track fishing activities, and protect restricted ecological zones.

SKYWAVE provided its ST 6100 satellite terminal, utilizing IsatData Pro (IDP) technology, to deliver the robust two-way connectivity required for the solution. This allowed ETNECA to build a customized VMS that gives authorities real-time visibility of vessel movements and enables geofencing alerts. As a result, SKYWAVE's technology helped ETNECA achieve the largest market share in the region, monitoring over 3,500 vessels and significantly improving compliance within Thailand's fishing fleet.
