SPACETREES, a leading company in satellite image processing for the forestry sector, faced the challenge of efficiently and accurately monitoring vast Central European forests to combat destructive bark beetle infestations. Their initial methods using detection dogs and drones were effective but limited by safety, accessibility, and scale. They needed a high-resolution satellite data provider that could partner with them to achieve their goals of early pest detection and precision forest inventory.

Partnering with SkyWatch, SPACETREES gained access to very high-resolution (30cm) multispectral satellite data, which was crucial for their needs. This solution from SkyWatch enabled them to perform detailed analyses on individual trees, automatically detect infected trees and cleared areas, and calculate tree heights for inventory. The result was the ability to monitor 80,000 hectares of forest in a single year, allowing for rapid response to threats and significantly enhanced forest management efficiency for their clients.
