A SkyWatch Case Study
52impact, a Netherlands-based geospatial consultancy founded in 2017, helps organizations in agriculture, forestry, water risk, waste management, and sustainability use satellite, aerial, and drone data in markets that have not traditionally worked with geospatial information. The team needed a faster, more efficient way to access and compare imagery across large areas, while reducing the time and cost of sourcing data for projects. They used SkyWatch’s EarthCache platform to simplify satellite data access, especially for large-scale analysis and future tasking.
With SkyWatch and EarthCache, 52impact was able to combine medium-, high-, and very high-resolution imagery from multiple providers, use the Data Explorer to preview archive coverage, and order data on demand through the API or interface without lengthy procurement cycles. This helped the team move more workflows into a self-serve model, avoid managing data storage themselves, and speed up project delivery. In one waste-management project, 52impact analyzed four countries in South America in less than a few weeks, using satellite data to identify new dumpsites, estimate waste development, and support sustainability planning with actionable insights.
