Case Study: AirVu achieves the Cayman Islands' first CAA Aerial Work Certificate with Skyward

A Skyward Case Study

Preview of the AirVu Case Study

AirVu - Customer Case Study

AirVu set out to become the first certified commercial small unmanned aircraft operator in the Cayman Islands but faced an unclear regulatory environment and a demanding approval checklist—suitable training, documented experience, a business plan, an operations manual and public liability insurance. Establishing credibility required extensive training, operational testing in local conditions, and drafting a compliant operations manual to satisfy the Civil Aviation Authority (CAACI).

AirVu pursued professional certifications, attended the Small Unmanned Business Systems Expo, and partnered with Skyward for app-based compliance guidance and help refining submissions. After two revisions and Skyward’s support, the CAACI granted the Aerial Work Certificate—the first local permission—enabling AirVu to launch aerial photography and cinematography services, form industry partnerships, and pursue expanded services and educational programs.
