South Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative (SCKSEC), serving about 1,500 across eight counties, struggled with paper timesheets, manual workflows, inaccurate calculations and lengthy payroll runs that took more than two weeks. To improve internal controls, accountability and reporting, SCKSEC turned to Skyward and implemented the Skyward School Business Suite, including Payroll and the True Time time-and-attendance feature.

Skyward unified contracts, budgets and payroll and introduced True Time for accurate attendance tracking, cutting payroll processing to three days, eliminating overpayments, reducing annual payroll by about 1,000 hours, and shrinking time-to-reporting from weeks to minutes. The Skyward solution also increased employee accountability, reduced HR phone inquiries through employee self-service, and freed funds to give raises while keeping payroll under last year’s total.
