Pekin Community High School was struggling to keep parents and students informed about grades, attendance and schedules — relying on hallway-distributed paper schedules and costly, hard-copy report cards that caused congestion and uncertainty about delivery. To solve this, the district implemented Skyward’s Family and Student Access portal.
Skyward’s Family and Student Access gave parents and students online access to grades, attendance, schedules and teacher contacts, enabling paperless report cards and electronic schedule distribution. About 50–60% of families logged in at least once, students report daily use, and the district saved roughly $8,000–$9,000 a year in postage while reducing returned mail and streamlining guidance office workflows, improving communication and engagement.
