A Skyward Case Study
Marion County School District, a large school district in Florida with over 43,000 students, faced a significant challenge with student tardiness. The manual process of checking in late students was causing hundreds of daily disruptions, resulting in a major loss of instructional time for teachers and creating administrative burdens for staff. The district partnered with its student information system vendor, Skyward, to find a solution.
Skyward, through its business partner, implemented a tardy kiosk solution that integrates with its SIS. This allowed students to check themselves in, which automatically and instantly updated their attendance records in real time. The solution eliminated hours of manual data entry, saved approximately three hours per day at each school, and made students more accountable. It also improved parent visibility into attendance via Skyward's Family Access portal. The district reported a noticeable drop in tardies and a much more efficient process.
