A Skyward Case Study
Macomb Community Unit School District 185, an Illinois district with enrollment of 2,106, faced the challenge of modernizing operations—reducing manual paperwork, speeding communication with families and staff, and freeing up instructional time. For more than two decades the district has partnered with Skyward, using its Student Management Suite and Family Access portal to move away from paper processes and keep up with constantly changing demands.
Skyward implemented scheduled tasks, automatic e-mails, the Message Center, Skylert and Gradebook tools to automate report delivery, real‑time alerts (for example when student addresses change), and districtwide communications to almost 2,200 families. The result: staff no longer recreate reports, phone calls and paper have declined, athletic eligibility and grading reports are sent automatically, teachers have moved toward nearly paperless classrooms, and district staff save substantial time while improving accuracy and family engagement thanks to Skyward.
